bybler Terms of Service
Last updated: 08/05/2026
1. The Agreement
By subscribing to bybler, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, please don’t use our service.
2. What bybler Provides
bybler is a textbook rental subscription currently available to students at CU Denver. You choose a plan of 1 to 8 semesters, and bybler ships you the required, reusable textbooks for the courses on your submitted class schedule each fall and spring semester, with free return shipping.
bybler plans currently cover fall and spring semesters only. Summer courses are not included.
3. What’s Not Included
The following are not covered under your plan and must be purchased separately if required for your courses:
- Single-use digital access codes (for online homework platforms)
- Lab manuals or consumable workbooks that cannot be reused
- Optional or recommended materials not required for the course
4. Pricing and Payment
- You select a plan of 1–8 semesters at signup. Your per-semester rate is locked in for the life of that subscription.
- Total payment is collected at signup via Stripe.
- Current pricing is listed on our Plans page.
5. Schedule Submission
You are responsible for submitting your class schedule by the deadline published for each term. Submitting by the deadline guarantees delivery by the first day of class. Late submissions will still be processed but delivery is not guaranteed before the term begins.
6. Shipping and Returns
- Books are shipped to the address you provide, with tracking.
- Return shipping labels are provided at no cost.
- Books are due back by your term’s end date. A book is considered “on time” if shipped (per USPS tracking) on or before that date, regardless of transit time.
- Late returns are subject to the late fee schedule below.
Late Fee Schedule (based on ship date, not arrival date):
- Shipped by due date: no fee
- Shipped 1 day late: no fee (grace period)
- Shipped 2–5 days late: $3/day
- Shipped 6+ days late, or never shipped: charged the book’s full remaining value (see Section 9)
7. Cancellations, Transfers, and Refunds
- The semester you are currently in is non-refundable once books have shipped for that term.
- For any remaining full semesters on your plan, you will be refunded at your locked-in per-semester rate, minus a 15% early-exit fee (or $40, whichever is greater).
- This policy applies whether you withdraw, transfer schools, graduate early, or downgrade to a shorter plan.
8. Pausing Your Plan
You may pause your subscription for a semester or more (for example, a leave of absence, medical or family reasons, or any other circumstance) by notifying us before that term’s schedule deadline. A paused semester does not count against your total semesters and is not shipped or billed separately — your locked-in rate and remaining semester count stay exactly as they were, and resume when you return. Pauses of up to two consecutive semesters (one year) are accommodated automatically; longer pauses may be arranged by contacting us directly. Pausing is not a cancellation, downgrade, or refund event, and no fees apply.
9. Upgrading or Downgrading Your Plan
- Upgrades (extending to more semesters): your new rate applies to remaining time going forward; you pay the difference for your remaining term.
- Downgrades (shortening your plan): treated the same as an early cancellation of the unused portion, per Section 7.
10. Damaged, Lost, or Unreturned Books
- Normal wear (highlighting, notes, everyday use) is never charged.
- Moderate damage (torn pages, water damage, cover damage): charged at 50% of the book’s remaining value.
- Severe damage, or a lost/unreturned book: charged at 100% of the book’s remaining value.
- All fees are capped at the book’s actual replacement cost.
- Remaining value is based on how much rental life a specific copy had left; students may dispute a fee with photo evidence of the book’s condition.
11. Buying Out a Book
You may buy out any book in your plan at any time. The price is based on the book’s remaining value and is always capped at the cost of a new copy.
12. Selling Books to bybler (Buyback)
This feature is not yet available. Once launched, students will be able to submit a book’s ISBN for a buyback offer, with offers valid for 3 days when made. bybler reserves the right to decline any book that does not have sufficient rental or resale value. This section will be updated once buyback is active.
13. Account Responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information, including your class schedule, and to notify us promptly of any changes (including withdrawal, transfer, graduation, or a pause) that affect your subscription.
14. Limitation of Liability
15. Governing Law
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of bybler after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
